What is a LED Downlight Emergency Lights?
A LED downlight is a luminaire that emits a focused beam in a downward direction.
Where is LED Emergency Lighting required?
Emergency lighting is activated when there is a power cut, this includes both emergency exit lighting and general lights. Emergency lighting is a requirement by law in both the UK and EU. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the Building Regulations 2006, the Workplace Directive and British Standard BS 5266, it means that any building which is used as a hotel, school, hospital, club, office, shop, multi-story buildings and other larger buildings must have emergency lighting fitted.
How often should Emergency Lighting be tested?
UK fire safety legislation states that emergency lighting must undergo a three hour emergency lighting test once a year. During this test, the main circuit should be switched off and emergency lighting should be left on for 3 hours so that any problems with the lights can be spotted.
