Retail LED Lights

The best retail lighting is layered. Ambient lighting gives overall brightness, accent lighting highlights products and displays, task lighting covers tills and fitting rooms, and decorative lighting adds atmosphere. LED is ideal because it is energy efficient, long lasting and available in high CRI for accurate product colour. In practice that usually means linear battens or panels for ambient light, track lighting and spotlights for accent, and low-glare downlights for general and task areas. We help you combine these into one scheme.

Yes. Our LED panels are made to fit standard suspended ceiling grids, most commonly the 600x600mm module, with 1200x600mm and other sizes also available. They drop straight into a modular grid ceiling in place of an existing tile, which makes them quick to install or retrofit in shops and shopping centres. For solid or plasterboard ceilings, surface mount and recessed options are available.

Yes, very. LED shop lighting uses up to 80% less energy than older halogen or fluorescent lighting, and lasts far longer, often 50,000 hours or more. For a shop running long trading hours, that means a clear drop in electricity bills and far fewer replacements. Many of our fittings are also dimmable and sensor-ready, so you can cut consumption further in quieter areas or out of hours.

A general retail sales floor is typically lit to around 300 lux, rising to 500 lux at tills and fitting rooms where detail matters. Premium displays and window features are lit brighter still, often using accent lighting at three to five times the surrounding level to draw the eye. Back of house and stockrooms need around 150 to 200 lux. The right levels depend on what you sell and the look you want, which we set out in your free lighting design.

This depends on the floor area and the lux level you are targeting. As a rough guide, lighting a sales floor to 300 lux needs around 300 lumens per square metre delivered to the floor, so a 100 square metre shop needs roughly 30,000 lumens once you allow for fitting efficiency and spacing. Premium and display areas need more. Our designers calculate the exact lumen output and fitting count for your space free of charge.

It comes down to your ceiling layout and the spacing between fittings. As a guide, 4ft battens suit smaller units and tighter rows, while 5ft and 6ft battens cover larger floors with fewer fittings. For long, unbroken runs we offer 2.4m and 3m continuous battens, which usually give the cleanest result where an 8ft length would otherwise be needed. Our retail battens are tri-colour and wattage selectable with a low-glare microprismatic diffuser, and come in dimmable and emergency versions. We can advise on the best lengths and spacing for your shop.

Yes. Alongside our indoor retail range we supply outdoor lighting for shopfronts and surrounding areas, including LED floodlights for signage and facades, outdoor bulkheads, bollard lights and security lighting. These are weatherproof, rated IP65 or higher for full UK weather protection. If you are lighting a shopfront, car park or entrance, we can include it in your overall design.
